Linwood Dunn Theater (Hollywood, CA)
A young woman survives a car crash and then is haunted by a ghostly figure called The Man who is somehow connected to an abandoned carnival pavilion. Carnival of Souls, director Herk Harvey’s only feature film, was made on a tiny budget and didn’t get much attention on its original release in 1962. Since then, though, it’s become a cult classic. Filled with evocative images, this black-and-white film has been newly restored by the Academy Film Archive, and is being screened as part of the Film-to-Film Festival.
