Pasadena Rose Palace (Pasadena, CA)

Pasadena’s own MUSE/IQUE Symphony Orchestra, led by maestra Rachael Worby, starts its first full season off with a bang by paying tribute to the Beatles’ landmark 1967 album at the Rose Palace, with frames of floats-in-progress for this year’s parade as the backdrop. Steven Page, the former lead singer of Barenaked Ladies, is set to appear, along with The Coals, Charlie Green and more, performing many of Sgt. Pepper‘s greatest hits — “With a Little Help From My Friends,” “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “Getting Better,” “When I’m 64” and others. This cool sing-along event salutes what Rolling Stone calls “the most important rock & roll album ever made … by the greatest rock & roll group of all time.” And it happens to take place at the former famed rock venue that’s now the home of the famed Phoenix Decorating Company Warehouse, where many of the 2013 Rose Parade floats are already being built. There will be a pre-concert reception with wine and food available for purchase, plus a chance to see the float construction up close.
