We’ve all seen Frank Capra’s Christmas film, It’s a Wonderful Life, a dozen times. But Theatre Unleashed performs the beloved holiday story in a brand-new (old) way — as a live radio play. The story is the same: the idealistic but melancholy George Bailey meets an angel one fateful Christmas Eve and sees what life would have been like had he never existed. But this production puts a clever twist on the plot. It’s set at a struggling 1940s radio station that good-hearted owner Michael Anderson is barely keeping alive. He calls on some old friends (with big personalities) and some less-than-professional station employees to perform their own version of the heart-warming story in what might be the station’s last live show.
