Can you answer the question, What is Art? The artists behind this epic, multimedia show provide you with an abundance of possible answers — which one is “right” is up to you! The evening begins with “Avant Garde,” a gallery show at the Ruby Theater. Sip some wine and have a little cheese as you contemplate experimental works that push the boundaries of painting, photography, sculpture and more. Then head to your seats for Yasmina Reza’s brilliant comedic play Art. Heralded in Paris, London and New York, Art explores the reactions of two skeptical friends to their best buddy’s purchase of a very expensive, very abstract work of “art.” Following the play comes “Arts du Spectacle,” a cabaret showcase hosted by Cat LaCohie. End the night with a flurry of magic acts, acrobatics, stand-up, burlesque, contemporary song, opera arias and dance numbers. No show takes its title more seriously — and no audience is for as much fun. Take the challenge and ask yourself What is Art?
