The maestro introduces you to yet another master, when the Classical Insights series returns and delves into Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. This highly-accessible, family-friendly event starts off with an engaging discussion led by Long Beach Symphony Orchestra Music Director Enrique Arturo Diemecke, in which he’ll offer up some colorful background on the composer’s influences and the music itself, illustrated with excerpts performed by the orchestra. Afterwards, Stravinsky’s avant-garde masterpiece will be played in its entirety. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, The Rite of Spring made its heralded debut for the 1913 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.
