It’s a grand night for salsa fans as La Charanga Cubana comes to Grand Annex. A Latin Grammy Award-nominated ensemble, La Charanga Cubana plays old-style Cuban dance music featuring vocals, violin, flute, congas, trumpet and timbales. The group’s infectious rhythms and soulful melodies evoke the timeless charanga sound that was first made popular in Cuba in the 1940s, mixed with a touch of West Coast salsa. Cuban-born bassist Edgar Hernandez leads the L.A.-based band, which has toured nationally and internationally.
