Celebrate Topanga Canyon Gallery 12th Annual Juried Open Show this Sunday January 20th from 2pm-5pm. The annual event was juried by Om Naven Bleicher and opened January 9th.
Bleicher is the director and curator of Bleicher/Golightly in the Pacific Plaza Center in Santa Monica. Although Bleicher usually juries two shows a year, this is the first time he is working with Topanga Canyon Gallery. “Last summer, I was invited to be the juror for their popular yearly open call exhibit, “ says Bleicher. He explains about how he chooses each piece and what he searches for, “I look for heart authenticity and spirit, backed by innovation, skill, and thoughtfulness. I looked at the artists ability to achieve their creative goals specific to the medium they were working with.”
When asked if he was surprised by any of the submissions, he replied, “I found myself enjoying styles and approaches that I might otherwise overlook given the scope of focus at my gallery which was a pleasant surprise.”
Artist John Brunnick had one of his pieces selected for the show. He has been a member of the Topanga Canyon Gallery for the past seven years. He started painting with oils in 2003. He talks about his experience with the gallery, “After being accepted in two of their Juried Shows by 2006, I thought the Topanga Canyon Gallery would be a good fit. It’s a great group of artists to be among. Very supportive.”
The public is invited to the reception, scheduled for Sunday, January 20 2013 from 2pm to 5pm.

Topanga Canyon Gallery, located at 120 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., #109, Topanga 90290, will host a reception on Sunday, January 20th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The public as well as the artists will have the chance to meet the juror, OM Naven Bleicher and awards will be given at a short ceremony.
Topanga Canyon Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
