Known for their high-energy live performance, Kinky is a five-piece alternative/electronica band from Mexico. The group came together in the late 1990s and upon coming to the U.S. in 2000, quickly drew attention from major players in the music world with their performance at the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) Battle of Bands in New York City. Their debut album released to critical and popular acclaim and they have continued to record and tour, evolving their style to suit their strength, which is performing live before an audience. Kinky’s music draws on Latin music, funk and electronic music for inspiration, with both Spanish and English lyrics. Their second single, “Más,” was featured in a Nissan commercial as well as heard on television, and in films and video games, and their song “We Are the Galaxy” is the official anthem for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
