Long Beach Playhouse brings to the stage the world premiere of Adam Seidel’s black comedy Catching the Butcher. A serial killer has been wreaking havoc on a Texas town, murdering women and dropping their bodies into the river with a mysterious poem attached. Understandably, the townspeople fear for their lives — except for one woman. In the hopes of becoming the killer’s lover, she actually searches him out and ends up being abducted by him and held captive in his basement. Might things go as she hopes? Where the play goes next will amaze and intrigue as it raises many questions about emotions, addictions, self-image, fate, destiny and the nature of love. Seidel has been called an up-and-coming playwright to watch for this compelling piece.
