Highways Performance Space and Gallery (Santa Monica, CA)
Experimental choreographer-director Courney Giannone presents the world premiere of Keller at Highways Performance Space and Gallery. Subtitled A Dance With Six Plywood Boxes, this innovative work was inspired by the life and discoveries of iconic deafblind activist and advocate Helen Keller. The piece features eight professional dancers interacting with the aforementioned boxes (which represent Helen’s hardships), and their movement represents her discoveries of expression. It looks to raise awareness of blind and deaf issues and explore alternate means of survival and communication.
