The latest in this series of musical-variety shows stars singers Floyd Taylor and Tasha Taylor in a tribute to their dad, the Stax Records R&B legend Johnnie. Known as “The Philosopher of Soul” and “The Blues Wailer,” the elder Taylor had more than a dozen hits, including “Who’s Making Love,” “Cheaper to Keep Her,” and even a huge No. 1 pop hit, 1976’s “Disco Lady.” Also on the Toast to the Blues bill is comedian Jay Lamont, whose credits include America’s Got Talent, Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen, Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at the Apollo and more.
