Cinderella at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Los Angeles, CA)

The L.A. Opera Performs Rossini’s Cinderella

Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Los Angeles, CA)

Based on the well-known fairy tale, this comic opera tells the story of a compassionate young lady who longs to escape her dreary life under the control of her arrogant, wicked stepsisters Clorinda and Tisbe. When Prince Ramiro invites the eligible women of the house to a ball, Cinderella is forbidden to attend. Using her wits and with the help of a court valet, she makes it to the palace where the prince becomes smitten with the mysterious guest. First performed in Rome in 1817, Cinderella features some of Rossini’s most exciting writing for solo voice and ensembles. James Conlon conducts the Los Angeles Opera orchestra in this dazzling production.
