L.A.’s acclaimed Odyssey Theatre Ensemble brings Robert Massey’s dark Irish comic thriller to the stage for its U.S. debut, directed by Wilson Milam, a Tony nominee for Martin McDonagh’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Set in the rough-and-tumble suburbs of north Dublin, Rank tracks a down-on-his-luck taxi driver named Carl. He finds himself in debt to a local gangster who’s desperate to collect, considering the armed robbery he ran just went bust. But Carl’s father-in-law — a fellow cabbie and sometime grifter — has a plan to extract the hack from his financial woes, setting off a sinister game of cat-and-mouse.
