Sondheim’s Company: A Musical Comedy Look at Commitment

Camarillo Community Theatre presents Stephen Sondheim’s Company, a landmark “concept” show, considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theater. It’s a 35th birthday celebration for still-single Robert, attended by his married friends and his three girlfriends. Through a series of vignettes, this witty and wise musical reflects on connections and commitments, marriage and contemporary relationships. The show also boasts the hit song “Being Alive,” plus “Side By Side,” “Another Hundred People” and “The Ladies Who Lunch.” With a score by Sondheim and book by George Furth, Company won multiple Tony Awards in both its original staging and its Broadway revivals.
