Location: Enoch Turner Schoolhouse
Join us at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse as we uncover the story of Corktown, one of Torontos historic downtown neighbourhoods. The Ontario Heritage Trust is once again offering the Corktown Walking Tour series, guided monthly tours that explore the homes, factories, places of worship, businesses and sites that made Corktown a hub for many 19th-century immigrants. Each tour will follow the same general route, but will feature a different theme. The theme for April is “Faith in Corktown” – we will visit the historic places of worship in the neighbourhood, examining the impact of religion on the area. Tours start at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse and wind through Corktown, visiting Little Trinity Anglican Church, the former Freyseng Cork Company, St. Paul’s Basilica, the Riverside Evangelical Missionary Church, and the Distillery District. Tours run rain or shine; participants are encouraged to come prepared for all weather conditions. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students, seniors and members of the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Foundation.
