Backed by the full power of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra POPS!, Grammy-winning conductor Jeff Tyzik takes audiences on an incredible tour of America’s only indigenous art form: jazz. In A Century of Jazz, Tyzik — one of the nation’s foremost pops conductors — leads the orchestra through the evolution of jazz, starting with ragtime and winding through swing, big band, bebop and fusion. Local jazz soloists Brian Scanlon (saxophone) and Alex Iles (trombone) help complete this journey from Scott Joplin to Herbie Hancock and beyond.
