First United Methodist Church-Santa Monica (Santa Monica, CA)
Soprano Suzan Hanson, bel-canto tenor Raúl Hernández and baritone Roberto Perlas Gómez lend their voices to those of the acclaimed Verdi Chorus in celebration of their 30th anniversary, with excerpts from Maria Stuarda, Don Carlo, Macbeth, Nabucco and Die Fledermaus. Music director Anne Marie Ketchum conducts choice arias and selections from the three “kingly” Verdi operas, as well as Donizetti’s tragedy, loosely based on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus offers “What a Joy to Be Here,” “A Toast” and “Sing to Love,” as a triumphant finale to this festive event.
