Award-winning Yiddish vocalist Lenka Lichtenberg creates uniquely Canadian world music, channeling the rich Toronto soundscapes of the Middle East, India and Brazil, and her own East European heritage. A former child star in her native Czechoslovakia, she reconnected with her Jewish roots approximately 20 years ago, and now creates breathtaking new music that is rooted in Yiddish tradition but draws a wide audience with its English lyrics and contemporary global influences.
