Elite Theatre (Oxnard, CA)

Yasmina Reza’s dark comedy God of Carnage reveals that while kids will be kids, adults might have only a slight grasp on maturity themselves. The play begins as two couples meet to work things out after one of their children attacks the other in the park. As their discussion progresses and the run flows, their behavior devolves from civilized to outrageous as each couple tries to pin the blame on the other for the incident. You’ll wonder if the parents are anything more than overgrown children, even as you laugh out loud at their antics. From acid dialogue to broad physical comedy, this play will defy your expectations at every turn, becoming more hilarious with every scene. God of Carnage won the Tony Award for Best Play in 2009 and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in the same year.
