Having moved to its new home at Revival Bar, Electro Swing Club is celebrating its 1 Year Anniversary on Friday, April 26th. And upon our arrival in Little Italy, what could be more appropriate than to kick up our heels in international style by featuring this scene surging act from Sicily. Swingrowers (pronounced Swing-Growers) is a young, dynamic trio from Palermo, Sicily. They take their name and inspiration from the farming tradition of their local villages where cultivating plants in the arid countryside is a much-prized art, taking time and skill. Similarly, with care and respect, this trio breathes new life & passion into vintage swing with stomping beats & soaring vocals. The band has been inundated with festival bookings across Europe and their debut album produced by Freshly Squeezed Music topped the charts upon its release in September 2012, In November, they opened for scene giants Caravan Palace in 3 sold out gigs across the UK. Part prohibition speakeasy, part modern-day dance party, Electro Swing Club events evoke the sounds and spirit of the 1920s & 30s, giving them a contemporary twist. With vintage dress code in effect, guests become part of the entertainment in this time-travelling experience, treated to an evening of DJs, live bands, fashion, dancing, burlesque and visuals. An intoxicating mix of old and new, the Electro Swing sound fuses traditional swing with vibrant electronic music such as House, Electro, Drum n Bass, Dubstep & Hip Hop. Since its Toronto launching in April 2012 in Toronto, Electro Swing Club has placed itself firmly at the intersection of vintage fashion, music and dancing, becoming the must-attend event where old-style swing meets modern beats. Electro Swing Club also features resident DJs medicineman, Foxtrot Holmes & The Great Grantsby, burlesque striptease, can-can, fashion pop-ups, all alongside audio-reactive retro visuals.
