The world premiere of Rod Brumback’s TransMe is paired with Harvey Fierstein’s On Tidy Endings for a production of one-acts titled Transfiguration. Staged by Cal State L.A. and Theater Insomnia, On Tidy Endings is set in 1980s New York in the midst of the AIDS crisis, as a man’s ex-wife and his male lover gather to grieve his death. TransMe is an all-new comedy that finds a young transgendered woman introducing herself to the quirky Southern family that only knew her as a him, but she’s surprised to learn that they’ve been harboring a few secrets of their own.
