Oxnard Performing Arts Center (Oxnard, CA)
Music Director Marcelo Lehninger conducts Beethoven’s towering 9th Symphony in the final concert of the New West Symphony’s 2012/2013 Masterpiece Series season. Beethoven’s Ninth was his final complete symphony. It was also his greatest work and is considered by many critics to be the greatest piece of music ever written. It is also the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony. Winners of the iCadenza/New West Symphony Young Artists Vocal Competition will be the soloists for the concert, joining the New West Symphony Chorus and the Los Robles Master Chorale in this grand finale to a great season. Beethoven’s rousing Leonore Overture No. 3 opens the program
