Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)

See the 2009 animated hit film Coraline on the big screen at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre as part of the Entertainment Weekly CapeTown Film Festival. Based on the award-winning book by Neil Gaiman, this Oscar-nominated stop-motion animated film from director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) is a clever fusion of kids’ movie and adult horror film. When young Coraline (voiced by Dakota Fanning) discovers a passageway to a parallel universe in her new home, what at first seems like the ideal world for the adventurous girl turns out to hold dark secrets and sinister intentions. Teri Hatcher co-stars, and the score by Bruno Coulais greatly enhances the film’s often-creepy atmosphere. As an added treat, Gaiman and animator Travis Knight will be on hand for a post-screening discussion.
