In her autobiographical one-woman show Listen … Can You Hear Me Now, Gloria Rosen brings to life her childhood as the hearing daughter of two deaf parents. As her parents’ sole interpreter, it was up to Rosen to be their connection to the hearing world, even lip synching their TV shows for them. Her eye-opening account is a poignant look at being an outsider, but her unusual upbringing also provides many unexpectedly funny moments, such as the time she pretended to be deaf to make friends.
