Bronzeville: WWII-Era Drama at The LA Theatre Center
The Los Angeles Theatre Center (Los Angeles, CA)
Tim Toyama and Aaron Woolfolk’s drama Bronzeville takes place just after Pearl Harbor, as President Roosevelt signs an executive order requiring all Japanese Americans to relocate to internment camps. Meanwhile, the wartime economy is booming, bringing the Goodwins, along with countless other African American families, up from the Deep South to factories in Los Angeles. But, when they arrive at their new house, the Goodwins discover a young Japanese man who refuses to relocate, putting them in a moral quandary as they debate the right thing to do.
