Santa Clarita Regional Theatre’s production of Les Misérables marks the area’s full production premiere of this long-running hit musical. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables tells the epic tale of ex-convict Jean Valjean’s struggle for redemption in 19th-century France. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical in its original Broadway run, the lush Boublil and Schönberg score features the classic songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “One Day More” and many others. The long-awaited film adaptation starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway was released in 2012, introducing the story to a new generation of fans.
