Beirut: Lovers Endure as Plague Rages in Riveting Drama

Studio C, at the Stella Adler Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)

Pearl Leone Theatre stages a version of Alan Bowne’s seminal and shocking play Beirut with two female leads. A plague has ravaged the country and infected citizens have been rounded-up and quarantined in the lower Manhattan. After testing positive for the disease, Torch finds herself quarantined, biding her time in a filthy basement apartment. Her grim routine is broken when Blue, her lover from “pre-virus” life, slips past the Legion Patrol and comes to her rescue. While overjoyed by her arrival, Torch is also deeply conflicted. The uninfected Blue risks far more than just her health by sneaking into the quartine zone. The triple threat of infection, exposure and death electrifies this already exciting love story at Studio C at the Stella Adler Theatre.
