Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) unites Latin American and Caribbean peoples against U.S. and European attempts to destroy sovereignty of Latin American nations. The recent efforts to disrupt the democratic election of President Nicols Maduro by a U.S. inspired right-wing, and colonialist actions of air piracy against President Evo Morales unite the ALBA countries in action. Listen to the voices of Canadians who stand for the rights of self-determination, and independence from neo-colonialism here and in Latin America. Contribute your ideas. This event aims to break through Canadian media silence and misinformation on ALBA. Wednesday, July 31, Begins at 6:30 p.m. – ends at 8:30 p.m. U of T OISE, 252 Bloor St. West (at St. George Street), Room 5160 The event begins with a short video on ALBA after which the Consulate General of the Cuban Embassy, Raul Delgado will give opening greetings. Speakers: Maria Paez, Circulo Bolivariano Louis Riel Juan Valencia, Toronto Bolivia Solidarity Robert Lovelace, Ardoch Algonquin First Nations Audience participation planned in break-out discussion groups — a collaboration between Latin American Caribbean Solidarity Network, Circulo Bolivariano Louis Riel, Toronto Bolivia Solidarity (working group of OPIRG).
