Media Release July 19th, 2013 The Manipulation of :: Light 185Augusta Gallery Toronto, Canada July19th -The Manipulation of Lightis the latest solo artist exhibition at 185 Augusta in Kensington Market. In this show, photographer Tru Ferguson explores the concepts of body image and questions traditional perspectives of beauty by manipulating her photographs in various ways using light. Tru Ferguson’s current body of work focuses on the deconstruction of the face and body into multiple layers paired with the integration of light. In doing so, she invites the viewer to re-examine traditional perceptions of the human face and body on a level that goes beyond the exterior. Ferguson attempts to realize this vision through carefully carving into her still images, allowing light to penetrate the surface of both the subject and the work itself. The Manipulation of Lightwill be on display for two weeks, with an opening reception taking place on Thursday, July 25th2013 at 7pm. This will be the seventh show at 185 Augusta,a live/work/gallery space located in Toronto’s Kensington market that is home to a collective of multi-disciplinary urban artists.
