Hollywood Bowl (Hollywood, CA)
Slavic compatriots — Czech conductor Jakub Hrusa and Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski — headline this Hollywood Bowl concert highlighting some of the best Bohemian music. Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Prague Philharmonia, Hrůsa was named by Gramophone Magazine as one of ten conductors “on the verge of greatness” in 2011. He makes his Los Angeles Philharmonic podium debut with Smetana’s tone poem Sárka and Dvořák’s melodic Sixth Symphony. Lauded for “the virtuosity he unquestionably has at his fingertips” (The New York Times), Simon Trpčeski takes the solo on Prokofiev’s energetic Piano Concerto No. 1. Trpčeski’s appeared with most of the world’s major orchestras, and his first recital recording won both the Editor’s Choice and Debut Album awards from Gramophone.
