House of Blues on the Sunset Strip (West Hollywood, CA)
ZZ Ward may have grown up in rural Oregon and gotten her start — at age 13 — performing with her dad’s blues band, but the 20-something’s love of hip-hop has long found her singing hooks for rappers at underground clubs and in recording studios. Now a solo performer, who NPR has declared “is going to be a star,” Ward combines blues, hip-hop, soul and rock in her signature “dirty shine” sound. And she’s got friends in high places, having already appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, Last Call with Carson Daly and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick of Fitz and The Tantrums.
