Topanga Canyon Gallery’s latest show “Stillness” opens on Sunday, September 8 from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The exhibition showcases the work of two artists, Felice Willat & Paula Fagan. The two artists are good friends and have shown their work together before, most recently as part of the Topanga Canyon Studio Tour.

Paula Fagan will be showing both paintings as well as her creations titled “Inspherations.” These hand painted glass vessels are currently hung from the ceiling of the gallery with hand tied cords. Each one has a tiny scroll tied to it. Paula explains how it works “The new owner of the vessel is encouraged to handwrite an intention or prayer on the tiny scroll and drop the scroll into their new hanging vessel. They then hang it anywhere in the universe to symbolize ‘Letting Go’ and trusting your intentions are heard and felt by the entire Universe.”

Paula’s work has a theme which includes thought provoking words. The artist aspires that the emotions carried in each painting will evoke similar emotion in the viewer.

Paula is excited to show once again with her good friend Felice Willat. “Felice’s majestic photos of magical very still places in nature allow one to enter into their own still place within themselves,” says Paula.

The photography of Felice Willat has been said to evoke stillness, to stop a moment in time. “I am almost always guided to my next adventure – called to a place that will inspire me, often where cultures are blended or is dominated by a particular belief,” says Felice. “Burma, Morocco, Cuba, Cambodia, or where the atmosphere and landscape are extraordinary – Death Valley, Yellowstone National Park, the Huangshan Mountains in China…”

As a photographer, she is always looking for that perfect shot. She usually uses just one memory card in a two-week expedition.  She then carefully puts the image through digital processing working closely with her printer for the final perfect piece of art.

The artists both continue to show their work…Paula Fagan’s work can be seen in an upcoming group show titled “FRIDA KAHLO” at Picture This Gallery in Long Beach. The show opens September 3rd and runs through September 28th with a reception on Sept 14th from 5-9pm.

Felice will be part of an exhibit called “Synthesis” at the Mkrtchyan Art Gallery in Glendale, November 15 – December 15, 2013. She is currently in a gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe called Glenys & Felice.

Topanga Canyon Gallery is located at 120 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd., Suite 109, Topanga, CA 90290. The opening reception for “Stillness” will be held on Sunday, September 8 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The event will feature poetry readings by Lark and solo Guitar instrumentals by LA recording artist, Calvin Banks.

The show will remain on view from August 28th thru September 22nd. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 10 to 6 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.
