Get ready to bop! Send off the summer with a blast, it’s time for the East End Rockabilly Weekend! The 5th annual edition of Toronto’s wildest weekend of live music and vintage culture returns to the Dominion on Queen (500 Queen St. East), September 20th-22nd, featuring a stellar lineup that will rock the joint for 3 non-stop days. Our bill for 2013 reaches all the way back to the ’50s, with original Sun Records alumni Rayburn Anthony flying in for his first Toronto show in over 2 decades. Joining Rayburn Anthony onstage will be Nova Scotia’s mighty Shakedown Combo, returning to the Riot after storming the stage in 2012. We’ve also secured Montreal phenomenon Israel Proulx (Wild Records), primed to join T.O.’s premier rockabilly combo The Royal Crowns onstage for an incendiary set. EERW host band Tennessee Voodoo Coupe continue their banner year, bringing their road-tested “100 proof hillbilly jive” to Saturday night’s bill, and hard-rockin’ acts Marty Allen and the Cadillac Cowboys (from St. Catharines) and The Hell Bent Rockers (from Hamilton) are guaranteed to kick off the live action in high gear! Ace DJs Rockin’ Dave Faris and Lincoln Bee Kool will be spinning red hot rockabilly cuts to keep the dancefloor packed. While the evening live events are front and centre, EERW5 will also feature 2 live matinees, including performances by The Ronnie Hayward Trio and The Hanksters, as well a ’50s rock ‘n’ roll film screening, Hill Peppard’s 3D photography show, dance classes with Bees’ Knees, vendors, hot rods, and more. Tickets for the weekend are now on sale at the outlets below. Stay tuned for newsflashes, and visit facebook.com/RockhouseTO for more details.
