Opportunity International Canada is pleased to introduce microfinance client Maria de los Angeles Ordonez as our keynote speaker. At age 13, Maria quit school to join the family business selling water and tortillas, but it was not enough for their family of 9. In 1999, after a series of jobs, Maria received her first loan from Opportunity International, beginning an entrepreneurial journey that would weather an economic downturn and a military coup, and increase her income from $15/month to $1,300/month. Maria is a testament to Opportunity Internationals mission that empowers people to work their way out of chronic poverty, transforming their lives, their childens futures, and their communities.
