Kensington Market Historical Society’s fall speakers event focuses on the Jewish Market of the early to mid-20th century. The Society presents two speakers who will address the idea, the substance and the process of recording aspects of Jewish Market life as existed during the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s. The first speaker will be Edra Bayefsky, daughter of the late artist Aba Bayefsky, who will use entries from her fathers journals and images of his work to lend a sense of his lasting and historical portrait of the Market. The second speaker will be Dara Solomon, Director of the Ontario Jewish Archives, who will use stories from the Archives collections, descriptions of the Archives’ walking tours and a new, soon-to-be-launched, interactive mapping project to retrieve Market narratives of the period.
