For more than a decade now, Germany has been engaged in the most ambitious sustainability shift of any major industrial nation – a move to renewable energy and hyper-efficiency now known in German as the Energiewende (“Energy Transition”). Germany’s pursuit of a low-carbon future is a case study for any community following the same path. Bestselling author, renowned sustainability expert and Ryerson alumnus Chris Turner has been studying the Energiewende almost since it began, and in “Tracking The German Leap,” he takes a look at Germany’s leap in mid-flight, sizing up the successes and setbacks and outlining the key lessons for Ontario and its own energy transition now well underway. Join us on November 9th at 3pm for an in-depth lecture on the German Energy Transition followed by a Q&A moderated by Sean Conway, Distinguished Research Fellow at Ryerson Universitys Centre for Urban Energy, and a reception.
