In honour of women and youth who have overcome adversity, hardship and domestic violence. The goal of this event is two-fold: to celebrate exceptional women and youth who are former clients of Dr. Roz’s Healing Place, and to fundraise towards the Changa House Child and Youth Centre for Change Capital Building Campaign. On this special night, our award recipients will be celebrated for their successes. These women and youth have reinvented themselves by overcoming obstacles in their lives and becoming independent, strong and self-assured. They are shining examples of what people can achieve when they believe in themselves and find hope and help in times of hardship. A special award will also be presented to a member of the community who has devoted themselves to the advancement of women and children’s issues. The event will feature distinguished speakers, an awards presentation, entertainment, a silent auction and dinner. We anticipate approximately 300 guests to be in attendance, including current and former clients, community members, dignitaries, financial partners and government representatives. Tickets for the special event are $125/ticket for a table (10) can be purchased for family, friends and associates at $1250. Should you be unable to attend, you can purchase tickets to sponsor women and youth that would otherwise be unable to afford to attend the event. The Changa House Child and Youth Centre for Change is a unique concept that will be set up to assist youth from various socio-economic backgrounds from a holistic perspective. Our vision meets the needs to expand relatable, effective and long term programming for youth. At the Healing Place, we have found that traditional programs tend to only temporarily meet the needs of youth. Our goal is to ensure that youth requiring support, inspiration and guidance, will receive help not only on a temporary basis, but in a sustainable manner into adulthood. Dr. Rozs Healing Place is a not-for-profit agency and registered charity that gives women, children, and youth emerging from abusive relationships access to a safe living environment conducive to healing and wellness. Our facility helps individuals recover from violence and trauma through an integrative and holistic approach, while empowering victims of violence to make positive changes in their lives. As a female positive organization, a safe environment and supportive programming is provided to all clientele. We have no boundaries to our essential services and assist clients from all across Canada and the world; all services are free and confidential. We service upwards of 750 women, children, youth and community members per year and assist them in the areas of legal aid, welfare, job skills training, custody, access, daycare subsidies, school registration, counselling support and referrals, creative and educational programming, transitional housing support, art therapy, recreational therapy, interactive programming and public outreach and education. Violence against women and family violence is a problem that continues to grow across our nation. We recognize that this is not only a social issue, but also an issue that affects the health and wellbeing of its victims. It is therefore imperative that we are able to continue our work. As a charitable organization, it would be a privilege to have your support in this endeavour, as we continue to shift a generation of women and youth from a place of vulnerability to a place of unshakable strength.
