Research. Creation. Presentation. Studio Creation Project with Avinoam Silverman The Studio Creation Project is 6 week course dedicated to development and creation between dancers and choreographer. The project presents a unique opportunity where the choreographer can practice creativity and movement creation, all while enriching the practice and development of emerging dancers. Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary Level required. Dancers will learn a new Contemporary work by choreographer Avinoam Silverman that explores the concept of moving forward away from something familiar into something less familiar and to keep moving forward despite all difficulties. The piece will be shown in studio followed by a discussion where other artists, friends and audience members will gain insight into the creative process and development of a new work. Fridays November 15 – December 20, 2013 11:30am – 1pm $120.00 (+hst) Full Workshop 6 week program | 1.5 hours/week Avinoam Silverman was born in Jerusalem, Israel and began his training at The Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. After completing his tenth grade year, he moved to Toronto to continue his studies at Canadas National Ballet School. He graduated in 1996 and joined The National Ballet of Canada as an Apprentice. He became a member of the Corps de Ballet in 1997 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2004. In 2009 Mr. Silverman retired from The National Ballet of Canada. Recently Mr. Silverman has graduated from the Teacher Training Program at Canada’s National Ballet School and is pursuing a career as a freelance choreographer and teacher. In 2010 Mr. Silverman created a work for Cadence City Connect titled ‘Change’ which marked his choreographic debut for a dance company. This is a registered class for adults only. Space is limited and students must pre register to confirm a spot in the class. Registration is based on a first come, first serve basis. Your spot may be lost if you do not attend the first class.
