Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA)
Oscar and Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter Aimee Mann (“Save Me,” “That’s Just What You Are”) has been an indie darling on the music scene since the 1980s, notably providing original songs for the soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia in 1999. Poet Laureate Billy Collins, a distinguished writer whose work has been honored time and again, has been hailed by The New York Times as “the most popular poet in America,” and was deemed Poet of the Year in 1994 by Poetry Magazine. Now, after having met at a 2011 White House event honoring the art of poetry, these two treasured American originals will appear together for an evening of acoustic music and spoken word/poetry that celebrates and reflects upon the artistry of writing.
