"ComposersLab: LA On Stage"

Ever wonder how a film composer comes up with just the right score that evokes the perfect mood for a movie? Sometimes you’re not even aware that it’s there until you hear the music later and are transported right back into the film. Hear about the process directly from the pros when Peter Golub, director of the Sundance Institute Film Music Program, hosts a conversation with one of the most successful film composers working today. Harry Gregson-Williams scored the Shrek series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Kingdom of Heaven, Man on Fire and Spy Game. He’ll share the secrets of his creative techniques, including a live demonstration of his work, with special guests. A select group of Sundance Institute’s Composer fellows will also present their own scored versions of a scene from an established film, giving you a unique chance to witness firsthand how music shapes and enhances the identity of a film and your experience as a viewer.
