Teen Explores Sexuality in High School Drama Shades

Miguel is known around his high school for teasing gay students — until his girlfriend gives him a gift that forever changes his life. The troubled teen sets out on an unexpected, and comedic, path to self-acceptance of his own sexuality. Tom Hartley’s Shades won Macha Theatre’s Emerging Playwright Competition and is directed by Odalys Nanin, the producing artistic director of Macha Theatre and recipient of a handful of honors, including three Drama-Logue Awards. Expect a few surprises, including male nudity.
