Kentucky, 1925: A young Appalachian man with dreams of turning a cave into a tourist attraction becomes trapped during a cave-in. While he waits to be saved 150 feet below the surface, the rescue effort explodes into America’s first full-blown media circus. Hysteria descends on the mouth of the cave as reporters from across the country manipulate the nation into a frenzy of anticipation, despair and hope. Tony-winning composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza) penned the intriguing bluegrass-meets-classical score for this compelling musical that’s based on a true story.
