"The Drop": Mary Gauthier

An alt-country/folk singer-songwriter who counts Bob Dylan and Tom Waits among her fans, Mary Gauthier (that’s “go-shay”) has been covered be the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton. Now eight studio albums into her award-winning career, and one of her most recent records, 2010’s The Foundling, found its way onto many year-end top 10 lists. As part of its new Americana music program series, The Grammy Museum celebrates Gauthier’s latest release, Trouble & Love, with an evening of music and stories from the self-proclaimed troubadour. The evening will kick off with a candid interview moderated by vice president of The Grammy Foundation and MusiCares Scott Goldman, in which Gauthier will speak about how she incorporates her life experiences into her songwriting. After the interview, she’ll perform a selection of songs.
