Beatbox/Bloom: Flower Warehouse Hosts Doric Quartet, Mona Tavakoli

Britain’s prize-winning string ensemble, the Doric Quartet, joins musical forces with innovative percussionist Mona Tavakoli for a concert filled with stirring sounds, along with gorgeous sights and scents. Muse/ique’s Rachel Worby brings this intriguing pairing to the Pasadena warehouse of Jacob Maarse, Southern California’s most famous florist, for a truly immersive sensory experience. The Doric Quartet’s released a number of critically-acclaimed recordings, featuring the works of Korngold, Walton, Schumann and Schubert. Tavakoli’s a virtuoso on the cajón/beat box, and a founding member of the L.A. based pop-rock group Raining Jane, who’ve just released an album and are touring with their longtime collaborator Jason Mraz (“Lucky,” “The Remedy”).
