The Guardsman is Ferenc Molnár’s delightful comedic romp about the actor-husband in a Brangelina-style supercouple from Budapest. Knowing his wife’s reputation for getting restless after six months of a relationship, the actor sets out to seduce her himself before she can stray by pulling off his greatest role — posing as the latest object of her affection, an imperial guardsman. As might be expected, his ridiculous scheme sets loose a series of hilariously unintended consequences.
