Dedicated to bringing L.A. the best films, food and music from south of the border, the 2014 Hola Mexico Film Festival concludes with a screening of the comedy Volando Bajo (Flying Low) and a performance by Mexican rockers La Gusana Ciega. A hilarious homage to ’80s Mexican cinema, Volando Bajo follows the misadventures of the country’s biggest band, Los Jilgueros de Rosarito, played by Gerardo Taracena and Rodrigo Oviedo, and features one of the era’s most popular stars, Rafael Inclan. Beto Gomez (Saving Private Perez) directs. After the screening, La Gusana Ciega rocks Los Angeles for the first time in six years. Lead singer Daniel Gutierrez contributed to the film’s soundtrack.
