Greek Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
The ’90s greatest alt-pop-rockers are back Under the Sun — and under the stars — at the historic Greek for their annual tour, the blockbuster concert event the Oakland Press calls “an upbeat evening of nostalgia … a funny four-hour package … of pop and alternative hits.” Joining the party this year is Blues Traveler, led by singer and harmonica player John Popper. The band scored two multi-platinum albums with radio mainstays like “Run-Around” and “Hook.” Also on the jam-packed bill are SoCal’s own Sugar Ray, fronted by charisma-filled singer Mark McGrath. They’ve sold almost 10 million discs with their signature blend of rock, pop, hip-hop and reggae, and smash singles including “Fly,” “Every Morning” and “Someday.” Country-rocker Uncle Kracker charted with upbeat singles “Smile,” “Nobody’s Sad on a Saturday Night” and “Blue Skies,” while Under the Sun tour mainstays Smash Mouth turned their pop-punk, third-wave ska and ’60s rock mix into giant hits like “Walkin’ on the Sun,” “All Star” and their widely-loved take on the The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.”
