Sunday May 18th The United Planets return to the Central for 2 cups of panty dropping funk, with a measure of R&B, equal parts gospel and straight jazz, with a shredded rock cherry on top. Special Planetary guest vocalist Laura Swankey will be beaming in to join us.
Starring the talents of Ben Payne and Robert Ogilvie Grieve on guitars, Robin Watson on the drums, and resident sauciere Andrew Mason on the bass.
The Planets will be joined by Toronto’s sensational world-jazz fusion group DRUMHAND, a 5-piece ensemble combining the circuitous rhythms of West Africa, Cuba, India and Brazil, with jazz-imbued horn work in the spirit of New Orleans parade bands and the uplifting spirit of American Roots Music.
Featuring:
Marcus Ali: Saxophones, Flutes, Voice, David Chan: Percussion, Voice, Larry Graves: Percussion, Voice, Rebecca Hennessy: Trumpet, Voice, Steve Mancuso: Percussion, Voice
