"The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and "The Young Girls of Rochefort"

Academy Award-winning actor and dancer George Chakiris (winner of Best Supporting Actor for his role as Bernardo in West Side Story) will appear in person at Santa Monica’s Aero Theatre for this double feature of colorful, stylish French musicals directed by Jacques Demy. The Young Girls of Rochefort, a delightful 1967 musical starring Catherine Deneuve, Gene Kelly and Chakiris, features Demy’s trademark light, whimsical style. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg from 1964 stars Deneuve in a moving love story that has no dialogue, just music and lyrics.
