DGA Theater 1 (Los Angeles, CA)
In the ’60s and ’70s, Pat Rocco directed dozens of gay erotic short films and shot extensive documentary footage of the burgeoning gay rights movement. This year, the iconic filmmaker and activist turns 80 — and you’re invited to help celebrate his incredible life and works. This program of gems from Rocco’s massive catalog includes the premiere of the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project-restored Sign of Protest (1970), which documents a gay liberation march opposing a defamatory sign at Barney’s Beanery. Other highlights include special celebrity guests and a rare appearance by Rocco himself as he accepts an achievement award honoring his contributions to LGBT history and culture. Please note that many of the screened films contain explicit sexual content.
